An Attic That Finally Breathes — Balanced Ventilation, No Gadgets

An attic without proper flow is like a room that refuses to open its windows — hot air just hangs out, getting hotter. On a Seattle project we built the simple, balanced ventilation that turns that trapped heat into a continuous, natural breeze. No gadgets, just physics.

Cool air comes in through screened soffit vents along the eaves, flows across the underside of the roof sheathing, and rises naturally to escape at the ridge vent. A continuous sheet of cool air sweeping through, 24/7, on its own.

In the Pacific Northwest that matters more every year — hotter summers bake roof materials and shorten their life, and uneven winter melt sets up ice dam risk. Good ventilation cools the attic, protects the roof, and lets the insulation actually work.

We see it across Mercer Island and Bellevue: upstairs bedrooms go from can't-sleep hot zones to comfortable retreats. That's not just a nicer home — it's a home that works the way it's supposed to.
