A hundred-year-old Seattle bathroom is a particular kind of challenge. This one was a cramped two-piece — tub, toilet, and not much else — in a home where the ceilings run tall and the people do too. The goal wasn't a spa. It was a bath that finally fit the people who used it.
We took the bath down to the studs and rebuilt it as a single curbless walk-in shower — no step to trip over, no wasted tub eating the floor.
The wall-mount toilet floats off the floor, which makes a small room feel larger and is honest to clean. The shower head and the shampoo niche are set at the height the homeowners actually reach — a small thing that a catalog default gets wrong and we get right.
Gold-accent tile gives the room its warmth without shouting. It's a 5x7 that finally feels like a retreat, built for the people who live in it rather than the people who'd see it in a magazine.
